„Ich will ja nicht stören“, schrieb ein Lehrer auf Twitter neulich, „aber ist euch mal aufgefallen, dass es aufgehört hat zu regnen? Also so grundsätzlich.“ Stimmt irgendwie und objektiv betrachtet war das schon fast ein ordentlicher Sommer mit vielen schönen Sonnenscheintagen, oder? Zeit für Summer Sadness also?

Wie auch immer, das aufgeräumte Kulturklubben-Archiv führt dazu, dass man nach alten Bekannten schaut, zum Beispiel nach Jacob Bellens, und der hat ein neues Album mit dem wunderschönen Titel My Heart Is Hungry And The Days Go By So Quickly aufgenommen. Eine der ersten Singles heißt Summer Sadness und hat ein einsames Video:

“A couple of months before the world went into voluntary hibernation i spoke to Fryd Frydendahl and Nis Bysted about making a video for my upcoming, now current single. They wanted me to be in the video and furthermore, wanted me to be the only participant. Since I’ve never really felt comfortable in my body, I immediately felt it was the worst idea ever but after giving it some thought, it also seemed like the perfect opportunity to tackle this age old issue head on. We went sailing in the Copenhagen harbour, went out in the green area of Amager Fælled and strolled a bit around in the empty inner city streets early in the morning while I did some homemade Tai Chi-like movements to get rid of my own self awareness throughout the day.” Facebook

Das Album selbst ist in etwas mehr Gemeinsamkeit entstanden:

“Somewhere between left-field pop and a classical singer/songwriter approach, the songs were recorded in two sessions with producer Mads Brinch, drummer Tobias Laust, bass player Jonas Westergaard, keyboardist Malthe Rostrup and guitarist Tobias Fuglsang. ‘So many good friends and amazing instrumentalists have contributed to the sound’, explained Jacob. ‘And mostly, people were playing what they felt the song needed, which was an incredibly inspiring way of just letting the process develop naturally, and take on a life of its own.’ As such, the recordings give off a distinct light-footed and organic feel.” Bandcamp
